The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Saturday advised all the banks to receive donations for President's Relief Fund for tsunami victims through their branches across the country. The federal government has decided to open with immediate effect a fund as 'President's Relief Fund' for providing relief to the people affected by the tsunami disaster.

It has been decided that all proceeds of President's Relief Fund and payments into this Fund will be received at all branches of SBP Banking Services Corporation (SBPBSC), all treasuries and branches of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), all branches of the Habib Bank Ltd (HBL), United Bank Ltd (UBL), Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB), and Allied Bank of Pakistan (ABL).

The Fund may receive donations from both domestic and international donors. Contributions from abroad will be received at all the branches of the above-mentioned banks where such branches exist. In other foreign countries, contributions will be received at Pakistan missions and remitted to the SBP Banking Services Corporation.

The SBP Banking Services Corporation has asked all the chief managers of its field offices to immediately open the above-mentioned Fund account.

The SBPBSC has also asked its chief managers and the presidents of NBP, HBL, UBL, MCB, and ABL to issue necessary instructions to their branches for collection of donations under the President's Relief Fund.

They have also been asked to display a 'Notice Board' at a conspicuous place of their branches that "Donations to President's Relief Fund for tsunami victims' are accepted here.
